Ask for Help (If Needed) – Move the pallet

The Hazards of pallet handling include wood splinters, hitting the hands, feet and lower legs and back and shoulder strain.  Pallets are normally taken from the stack by sliding.  The higher the stack, the greater the likelihood of injury.   Follow the steps below as a guide :-

STEP 1

Check the height of the pallet stack. If the stack is higher than 6 (or above waist height) ask for assistance from forklift operator, if this is not possible then 2 people should move the pallet.

STEP 2

Stand close to the pallet stack and pull one pallet and lower it onto its edge or stand with your back towards the pallets and pull / walk away from the stack.

TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY – DO NOT DROP THE PALLET
